Mode of Action
Stomp Aqua 455 CS is a selective herbicide for the control of annual grassy and broadleaf weeds. At the biochemical level, it affects mitosis by inhibiting the formation of microtubules in the mitotic spindle.
Application Guidelines and Important Notes
- Soil Moisture Dependency
The efficacy of Stomp Aqua 455 CS in post-sowing applications is significantly influenced by soil moisture. In such cases, irrigation is recommended 24–48 hours after application to incorporate and “activate” the herbicide in the soil. - Cotton (Solanum nigrum Control)
For enhanced control of black nightshade (Solanum nigrum) in cotton, it is recommended to follow a pre-plant incorporation application with a post-sowing, pre-emergence application of a herbicide containing fluometuron at 250 mL/1,000 m² (based on a formulation with 50% active ingredient), or 125 g of active ingredient per 1,000 m². - Application Rates
Lower rates are recommended for light soils with low organic matter content and low weed pressure. Higher rates are recommended for medium to heavy soils, soils with medium to high organic matter, and in areas with high weed populations.
Note: When applying the maximum rates, depending on soil texture/fertility, temporary growth delay in crops may occur, especially under high soil moisture or low temperature conditions. - Weed Development Stage
Stomp Aqua 455 CS is effective against weeds that are just emerging or at the cotyledon stage. If weeds have already emerged, they should be removed by hoeing, hand-weeding, or by applying an appropriate post-emergence herbicide before using this product. - Ornamental Plants — Example Species Suitable for Use
Thuja occidentalis, Prunus spp., Cypressocyparis leylandii, Viburnum spp., Crataegus spp., Ilex spp., Syringa vulgaris, Magnolia grandiflora, Quercus spp., Phoenix spp., Pinus spp., Populus alba, Platanus occidentalis, Salix babylonica, Juglans nigra, Rhododendron spp., Buxus spp., Camellia japonica, Gardenia jasminoides, Cotoneaster spp., Cupressus sempervirens, Euonymus japonicus, Pyracantha coccinea, Forsythia intermedia, Hibiscus syriacus, Juniperus spp., Lavandula angustifolia, Pittosporum tobira, Myrtus communis, Nerium oleander, Chamaerops spp., Photinia spp., Ligustrum spp., Laurus nobilis, Yucca spp., Hedera helix, Pelargonium spp., Jasminum spp., Myoporum parviflorum, Asparagus officinalis, Freesia spp., Lilium spp., Paeonia spp., Wisteria spp., Ammophila spp. - Use in Ornamentals
Stomp Aqua 455 CS is safe for use around and under many ornamental species (shrubs, trees, and plants). However, selectivity has not been tested on all varieties or hybrids. Environmental conditions, growth stages, or improper application may lead to phytotoxic effects. It is advised to perform a small-scale test on a few plants and monitor them for 1–2 months before broad application. - Precautions in Nurseries and Ornamentals
- Do not spray directly in nurseries or on plants intended for transplanting.
- Do not apply to grafted ornamentals, or during active growth or flowering stages.
- Avoid spraying during early bloom or initial vegetative development.
- Prevent spray droplets from coming into contact with foliage, buds, or flowers.
- Ensure soil is free from cracks that could expose roots to the herbicide.
- Apply only once the root system is well established, and always before grafting or flowering.
- If phytotoxicity is observed on some ornamental species, avoid planting them in treated soil during the following growing season.
- For bare-root transplanted plants, wait 2–4 weeks after transplanting before application.
- Restrictions
Do not apply Stomp Aqua 455 CS in greenhouses or enclosed structures.
